About Walton Wrestling Walton Wrestling is the high school wrestling team for George Walton Comprehensive High School, home of the 2009 GHSA AAAAA Traditional State Runner-Up! Walton High School is a public, four-year, comprehensive high school with a strong college-preparatory program. It is located in eastern Cobb County, suburban Atlanta, GA, approximately two miles north of GA Highway 120 and Johnson Ferry Road. Walton's reputation for excellence through achievement was publicized nationwide in the January 18, 1999 issue of U.S. News and World Report. Walton was one of six featured schools identified from the 96 “Outstanding High Schools” in America. Newsweek's 2008 list of “America's Best High Schools” named Walton High School one of the best high schools in the nation, ranking it among the top 5% (109th out of the Top 1300) of all high schools in America. In 2009, Newsweek's list ranked Walton 90th in the nation. Walton is also the top ranked high school in Georgia. Walton also has an outstanding athletic tradition. The Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) Dodge Directors Cup is awarded to one school in each GHSA classification whose athletics program has shown the best overall performance. In the 2008-2009 school year, Walton was awarded the 5A GADA Dodge Directors Cup for the third year in a row! Walton has received the award 5 of the 11 years since the award's inception in 1999-2000. Walton Jr. Wrestling is our youth wrestling program for grades K – 8, and is dedicated to the advancement of youth wrestling in our community. Our goal is to introduce the sport of wrestling to kids ages 5-14, and to provide them an opportunity to learn the sport from experienced coaches, gain valuable skills, and participate at the highest levels of competition offered in youth wrestling should they so desire.
